GLOCK's nDLC provides stronger, more durable protection than previously used finishes. The nDLC finish is exclusive to the GLOCK manufacturing process. The nDLC finish increases corrosion and scratch protection and improves the gun's ability to perform in degreased or adverse conditions. The nDLC finish will be exclusive to the Gen5 guns at this time.

The ambidextrous slide stop handle makes it easy for gun owners to operate the slide quickly, safely and comfortably whether they are left or right handed.

The larger opening of the flared magma well makes it easier to insert the blade into the magma hole, especially at high stress where fractions of seconds matter.

Eliminating finger grooves improves grip ergonomics. The lack of finger grooves enhances the gun's ability to deliver a consistently comfortable grip to a wider range of consumers, regardless of their finger size and whether or not gloves are worn.

The new GLOCK Gen5 magazine comes with an orange follower and floor plate that is extended forward for faster magazine changes.

Every GLOCK Gen4 and Gen5 model comes with backstraps in two sizes each with or without a beaver tail. The multiple backstrap frame allows users to adjust the girth of the handle to fit their unique hand size.

The magazine catch on the Gen4 and Gen5 frames is reversible and extended to the rear of the gun. The reversible magazine handle is more shooter-friendly and allows him to switch the handle to the left or right side of the gun.

The Gen4 and Gen5 feature a rough textured frame surface (Gen4 RTF) designed to increase grip without being too aggressive. It is present on the frame as well as on the replaceable backrests.

Beginning 6/21/22, GLOCK will ship all MOS pistols with a polymer buttplate instead of a metal one. Here's what you need to remember: The Glock 34 Generation 5 is probably the best shooting Glock you can buy in 2019. Due to fifth generation improvements to the trigger and barrel, the Glock 34 Generation 5 shoots better than the Glock 34 Generation 4. The extended barrel and slide make it easier to shoot well and more accurately than other Generation 5 Glocks.

The Glock 34 Generation 5 in 9x19mm is the latest release in Glock's line of "extended" bolt-action pistols. Although originally intended for competition, it has also been used by law enforcement and military teams, who appreciate the Glock 34's superior shooting characteristics over other Glocks. However, its release has interesting implications for Glock's future, as it is the only long-slide model of the fifth generation.

The Glock 34 is a toned down model of Glock's first competition, the Glock 17L. The Glock 17L packed a 6-inch barrel in a 9.5-inch-long frame. Although used on the competition circuit, it may have been "too Glock" for many as the slide hung nearly two inches from the end of the frame, making the gun balance oddly and giving it a stocky appearance.

The Glock 34 reduced this by more than half an inch, reducing the overall length to 8.8 inches and the barrel by the same amount. This reduction in size allows for better balance, makes it more proportional in size, and makes the case more economical to make.

As a result, the 34 saw some appreciation for tactical teams who might be looking to use the Glock 34 as their primary weapon system in confined areas, so the improved shooting characteristics due to the longer barrel were appreciated. French special forces are known to use the Glock 34, and according to Glock's website, some SWAT units use them as well.

Probably due to the popularity of the Glock 34, Glock also made similar "long slide" variants in .45 ACP, 10mm Auto, and .40 S&W with the Glock 41, 40, and 35, respectively. But Glock only produces the fourth generation Glock 41, 40 and 35 and has not updated them to the fifth generation standard. Only the fifth generation Glocks are chambered in 9x19mm.

This could perhaps indicate that Glock, following market trends, is focusing on 9mm instead of trying to provide pistols in a wide range of calibers. This makes sense, as many police departments and federal agencies have switched from .40 S&W and .45 ACP, as well as specialty calibers such as .357 SIG to 9x19mm, as 9mm shooting technology has improved.

As such, the Glock 34 Generation 5 is arguably the best shooting Glock you can buy in 2019. Due to fifth generation improvements to the trigger and barrel, the Glock 34 Generation 5 shoots better than the Glock 34 Generation 4. The barrel and slide make it easier to shoot well and more accurately than the second generation 5 glock. While the benefit of a longer sight radius is less in the era of pistol optics, a longer slide and heavier barrel are always an advantage when it comes to landing missed shots. And for many users, the Glock 34 has just the right amount of extra length.
